Update for October -- Actualización para octubre

It has been a while since the last update, sorry about that. Now that things have calmed down and I have a little more time to write and sort through my ever growing folder of pictures, I will take the next week or two to catch up on all the things that have happened over the past couple months around Paso a Paso.

October was a fairly normal month for the Project...

...with one major exception. We moved to a new location in San Antonio! We are still in the process of getting everything setup before the new school year begins in January, so I will hold off on posting pictures for a little while longer. (For those of you familiar with San Antonio, we are now right next to the community's multi-purpose building where The Now is the Time for Missions mission has held VBS in the past.)

Outside of moving, the school year was winding down. Unlike the States, in Guate the school year begins in January and ends in October. The older kids were busy preparing for their exams. And the preschoolers were busy preparing for the graduation/end-of-year ceremony in early-November.

This preparation involved making 50 pompoms...which somehow ended up being my job. Lots of folding, cutting, and rolling later the kids enjoyed the pompoms and I am now an expert newspaper pompom maker.

Towards the end of the month, we had a special workshop held by Universidad Rafael Landivar for the parents in the project. I was helping keep the kids occupied while their parents were in the workshop, so I'm not entirely sure what was going on with the workshop. I do know that there were presentations, small group sharing, and some tears swelling up at times, so it seemed like an impactful workshop and the parents seemed to go away valuing what the students said during their workshop.
